列书单是一个很惬意的事,就跟Tao Lin这首任性的钓鱼诗一样。新年开门大吉,就这么率性一把。
以前读书,都是东一耙西一耙,一个朋友推荐的,一篇文章提到的,看维基词条找到的,上亚马逊蹦出来的,想到以前想读的,总之哪一本从充足或牵强的理由映入我眼帘的,拿来就读。这样并不坏,只是今年我想换一种玩法,老老实实对着书单看书,至少一个好处是减少了搜寻的成本。
edX网校伯克利大学的读书俱乐部,大概一个月一本古典小说。School Library Journal在2012年列出了100本给青少年的小说,我一直看着,不知道什么时候能看完;这种书单随时在变,不过即使依着一种,也不会错过什么,比如哈利波特和霍比特人就会在所有的单子上出现。最近我对纽约时报的所谓畅销书排行(_New York Times Bestsellers_)很感兴趣,其中的非虚构类书籍质量都非常不错,学有余力,或许可以拣几本读一读。
BerkeleyX Book Club
书还是要自己读,没人喂。不过跟着这样的读书俱乐部,好处是时间可以控制,一个月就一本,然后有伯克利的英文教授列出每本书的背景知识(社会、文化、词汇等)——读书读野了,得这样试试(下面的都是老派经典,不一定有趣,能看多少是多少了,幸亏大部分都接触过,读过中文版或看过电影):

这个单子里的小说类时新的多,非小说类倒常常有惊喜。这个单子每周更新,虽然有不少重复,但如果紧跟着,人一辈子都不够用。
这周我看上的有小布什写他爸的《41》 (老布什是美国第41任总统,小布什是43任),还有_WILD, by Cheryl Straye,一个跌入生活谷底然后通过横跨Pacific Crest Trail找到自信的妇女的自传,FOOD_, by Jim Gaffigan,一个吃货的随笔(我不是吃货,比较好奇)。

去年留下了大量的待读书目。不过正如海子所说,如果此时没有阅读,就不要再读。如果以后它们以任何契机让我想真的读下去,那么它们可能就是真正有缘分的书,这其中包括但不限于

这部小说的背景是美国超级通货膨胀,导致经济崩溃,政府瘫痪,犯罪横行,然后主题就是一群设法自救的主角们如何退到山区生存。自从我了解了些火器之后,这种书终于能读出一些乐子。
